Announcing the 2019 High School Musical: The Drowsy Chaperone

The High School Music Department is proud to announce the 2019 High School Musical, The Drowsy Chaperone. Three performances will take place on Friday, March 1st at 7:30 pm and Saturday, March 2nd at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm.

Auditions for Waldorf high school students will take place on Wednesday, November 14th at 3:30pm

The winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Jazz Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another. With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Over the next 90 minutes, the audience is guided through all of the twists and turns of the (admittedly thin) plot by the excitable Man in Chair while receiving interesting tidbits about the actors, history of theater, and behind the scenes action…including some information no one asked for! More than anything, The Drowsy Chaperone is a testament to the power musical theater has to inspire, excite, and lift us out of our day-to-day “blues”.

Director, Andrew Fallu, is very excited to make the announcement saying, “I am eager to get started working with our talented high school students as they sing, dance, act, and create a memorable show that I am sure will leave the audience thoroughly entertained!”

Past productions have included, The Wedding Singer (2018), In the Heights (2017), Little Shop of Horrors (2016), and You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown (2015).
