Class of 2018 Presents: Senior Art Showcase

2018 Senior Arts Showcase

The class of 2018 presented the culmination of their year-long work on their Senior Art Projects during a special reception for our community on Saturday, May 5th. The artwork was particularly creative and diverse this year with projects ranging from a short film to a stone sculpture. View the slideshow above.

Students worked with one of our three art teachers throughout the creation of their project depending on their goals. Our woodwork teacher, Martin Somers, advised students with three-dimensional and wood projects, Fiber Arts teacher Andrea Crozier oversaw clothing and fabric based creations, and Fine Arts Teacher Anne Cavallaro advised those creating more traditional drawing and painting pieces. Each student wrote an artistic statement to accompany their work and presented and discussed their inspirations and processes during the reception.

“The Art Department supports the role of the Senior Project as it serves to build on the skills and capabilities of each individual student. This development, being both internal and external emerges as technical skills grow and the Seniors learn to effectively communicate a design concept, image, or message.”

The work will be on display in the Breezeway Gallery and the High School lobby until Friday, May 18th. Congratulations to the senior class on another milestone reached! To learn more about the Senior Art Project, watch our video below:
