On Tuesday, January, 15th, the Middle School Girls Basketball Team traveled to Lawrence Woodmere Academy and earned their first victory of the season, defeating the host team 22-14.
In the first quarter, Waldorf came out strong and outscored Lawrence Woodmere, 6-2. 7th graders Emma Keane (co-captain), Conchetta Bohm, and Kate Keane each scored a basket.
In the second quarter, Lawrence Woodmere played tighter on both ends. With four points in the quarter, Emma Keane was the lone scorer. At halftime, Waldorf was up 10-06.
In the third quarter, Waldorf continued strong play and outscored Lawrence Woodmere, 08-02. 8th grader Abby Picoli (co-captain) and Emma Keane combined for four points each in the quarter.
In the final quarter, Waldorf kept the momentum just as strong and scored 4 points.
“We played exceptional defense,” said Coach Brown. “Sarah Keane scored two points and Fiona Somers scored two points in the run. I am extremely proud of the way the team performed this evening. We have been competing and working hard and I am glad we finally came out with the win. This team has been making improvements and I couldn’t be any happier of the way they played!
