Varsity Girls Basketball vs. Portledge School

Waldorf’s Varsity Girls Basketball Team opened up the 2012–2013 season against Portledge, last year’s IPPSAL champions, and once again the Portledge offensive power provided by Tamara Simpson, the league MVP, was too much for Waldorf to overcome.

Waldorf was defeated by the score of 27-47. Simpson had 24 of Portledge’s 47 points. Coach LeSueur remarked, “Each of our players needs to gain experience against the high pressure and speed of play that we will surely encounter several times this year.”

The scoring for Waldorf was led co-captain and power forward Isabella Fraim who collected seven points. Waldorf’s other co-captain and “floor general” senior Carolyn Smalls played excellent defense and contributed five points. Senior forward Alison Dilello recorded five points, junior guard Jaclyn Proctor also had five points. The remaining scoring was provided by juniors Sofia Trikas and Ajanai Miller Randolph and sophomore Mikayla VerPault – all of whom contribute a basket.

“We look forward to another successful season,” said Coach LeSueur. “We have a good work ethic and the girls are committed to making this a great season.”
