Waldorf Watch: Junior Sydney Bossuk a Semi-finalist in National Vocal Competition

Junior Sydney Bossuk is a Semi-finalist in the 2018 New York Lyric Opera National Vocal Competition. She is one of only 32 students from across the country to make it to the semi-final round in the High School Division.

Sydney, a lyric mezzo soprano, auditioned for the competition in March and sang the Italian aria, Che farò senza Euridice from the opera Orfeo ed Euridice composed by Christoph Willibald Gluck. The New York Lyric Opera stated that this year was very competitive including “a record number of applicants and a very high level of talent.”

Sydney has enjoyed singing, and specifically musical theater, in and out of School, for several years, but only began studying classical voice technique last year.  According to the Schools’ music teacher, Andrew Fallu, Sydney is a hardworking student who always gives her all.

“We are all extremely proud of her for this achievement, and I know she will continue to succeed in her musical endeavors,” Said Mr. Fallu.

Congratulations to Sydney and we look forward to seeing her on the stage in the near future!
