Kahaan with his Taekwondo Instructor

Kahaan Shah, a current sixth-grader at The Waldorf School of Garden City, was featured in a special Taekwondo exhibition at Citi Field. During the event, he sparred with a fellow martial arts student and demonstrated the breaking of foam boards.  Kahaan was one of 15 students from his Taekwondo school to participate in the exhibit.

The exhibit was in honor of International Taekwondo Day and took place at the field prior to the Mets v. Phillies game on Sunday, September 8th. Kahaan registered for the event as part of his studies at Master Jeon U.S. Tae Kwon Do School in Mineola. He has been studying the art of Taekwondo for over three years, beginning as a white belt and now as a black belt. He thoroughly enjoys his training. According to his mother, Gini Shah, “It has taught Kahaan how to respect all aspects of life, [and instilled in him] discipline, and commitment. Not only has he learned the 5 aims and 11 commandments of Taekwondo, but also how to weave them into his everyday life.”
