Lunch

The Waldorf School of Garden City is committed to providing fresh and healthy foods, free of pesticides, hormones, and antibiotics. The cafeteria staff prepares the majority of meals from scratch.   Most meats are free-range and the fish are wild. Whole-grain carbohydrates, proteins, and fresh vegetables are all part of the school’s well-balanced approach to cooking.

Day in and day out the cafeteria staff prepares a variety of soups, bread, and entrees, all of which include a vegan or vegetarian option, as well as the fresh salad bar. Cafeteria chef Aviva Gill says: “I approach each meal as if I make it in my own kitchen. Love is always the main ingredient.”

Students in Grades 4 – 12 select their lunch from the cafeteria and pay with cash or their Lunch Card that will be distributed at the beginning of each school year. Each Student’s lunch card is connected to a family’s MySchoolAccount.
